Good friend Dave Webb bought the farm next to me in Hickory Valley. He and his beautiful wife just came for a visit. While he was there, he wrote a song about Hickory Valley. It made my day! I have Dave’s permission to put it up on our website. Our webmaster says it sounds like a cross between Lou Reed, the Grateful Dead and Ray Davis.

Here are the words:
Well this place has got something - it resonates with me.
In the heart of mother nature — Hickory Valley, Tennessee.
Hey, pretty baby, what you got going on?
Well, I got something for you
C’mon over here in my heart is a song.
It’s a beautiful day in the sunshine,
Beautiful people like you around.
Hickory trees swaying in the gentle breeze,
Just before another little gentle rain,
Well the rain comes down
‘Till the sun comes out again.
Well this place has got something — it resonates with me.
In the heart of mother nature — Hickory Valley, Tennessee.
In the heart of mother nature — Hickory Valley, Tennessee.
Hickory Valley, Tennessee,
Hickory Valley, Tennessee.

My ally and candidate for Governor of Tennessee Howard Switzer just wrote a letter to Richard Ciziks, the evangelical Christian encouraging Christians to extend pro-life thinking to the full ecology (See the latest Top Picks for an article about Ciziks.)
A great Howard quote from his letter:
Snowflakes, no two are alike and alone they are not powerful at all but light as a feather, they melt at a touch, but enough of them together can shut down New York City.
For more on how to build serious political alignments, see Howard’s full letter and more
