  1. As always a wonderful presentation. No better mix than education and humor. Russian history is as fascinating as any. I think the beginning of Russia becoming what she was destined to be began with Peter The Great and his clandestine world tour in the early 1700’s, and later continued by Catherine The Great. They both horned their way into plenty of hidden knowledge. That trajectory needed to be derailed and the Bolsheviks were the perfect foil/outfit to do it. This interview could have went on for 24 hours as far as I’m concerned. Thanks you.

  2. Joseph I read that the organ was the heart of the church (maybe why in the body the heart is so important). The bells that rang were the healing resonances or properties. The songs or hymnals were the protection we embraced once we left the church. GODS PROTECTION!

    1. I have been seeking an experience of a real pipe organ and finally found one in a Church in Germantown TN. I drove the hour from my home this past Sunday excited for the experience. As the organist began to play “Amazing Grace” at the beginning of the mass, I was initially delighted. I am a musician, so it was clear to me as he continued he was taking liberties with the key and had shifted to a very dark minor key. The song got progressively louder and darker, and the chord progressions increasingly cacophonic- he had managed to turn Amazing Grace into a funeral march! I was absolutely gobsmacked, and looked around to see if anyone else noticed. Physically I was uncomfortable. I finally connected with the lady behind me who was also distressed and we agreed something was way off. I came to this Church open & ready to listen and absorb the sounds, and it was absolutely, viscerally clear to me that it was not right. Eventually, I was compelled to get up and walk out after one final attempt to give it a chance in case I was wrong. Not sure what to make of it.

  6. Does anyone know where to purchase a hardback Latin/English (of German) side-by-side translation of the Latin Mass and other major prayers (Pater Noster, Stabat Mater, the Marian hymns, vespers etc)?
