Valentine’s Day occurs every February 14. Across the United States and in other places around the world, loved ones exchange candy, flowers, and gifts, all in the name of St. Valentine.

Significance: In honor of one or two early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine and, through later folk traditions, the holiday has become a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world.

Also called: Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine.
