Emilio Piano ft. Lucie
This week’s wonderful music pick was suggested by subscriber and Solari collaborator Anna, and it is a real treasure of a song.
Composed by Paris-born Emilio Piano and sung by 15-year-old Lucie, the song has gone viral ever since its first keystrokes were heard in February of this year. Lucie is an enthusiastic musical teenager who in 2023 reached the finals of the French The Voice Kids talent show. She had approached Emilio while he played the piano in a shopping center and asked him to play “Voilà,” a song we have previously featured in Music of the Week. They seem to have struck a mutual chord.
Emilio Piano, whose full name is Emil Jean Joachim Reinert, has gone from being a fully trained classical pianist to a global phenomenon with over 35 million followers. “Maison” is his first original song, both in lyrics and music—and what a stunning ballad it’s become.
In Anna’s words: “I smiled at the beauty of it, and tears swiftly followed, before I even translated the words. Such talented individuals—the control, the timing, the pauses and soaring highs and lows—it’s utterly captivating. I felt compelled to share it with you.”
