Just saw this on Gilad Atzmon’s FB page:
“Israel Dumps The Dollar For China’s Renminbi”
Atzmon remarks, “America’s best friend …. I can stop laughing ….”

Yes, I sent in the Bloomberg announcement to News Trends and Stories yesterday. Look to me like the City is playing the commonwealth to their advantage.
Please consider Gonzalo Lira as one of your heros of the week? Thanks
He is in the hero stack. Sending prayers for his safety. Hoping he did make it out ok.
Gonzalo Lira is alive and well in Kharkov! He appeared in a 5 minute video on The Duran. He stated he was “picked up by the SBU Friday 4/5/22 at 1pm”, that he is “OK physically, but feeling a little rattled and discombobulated”. The local authorities have told him he can not leave Kharkov, but he did not elaborate further with details why or how long he must remain there.

One of the comments from Mr. Glazyev to The Cradle that struck me was that, “This new currency would be used exclusively for cross-border payments…” Sounds like a very different architecture than that threatened by the BIS. Do you think such a ‘split-scheme’ for a digital cross border trade currency outside a domestic national currency is feasible, or did I misunderstand? Thanks!!

Catherine:
A suggestion for “Let’s go to the Movies” (but it’s a TV series). Turn: Washington’s Spies. It’s very good. There are four seasons in total.
It’s the story of how 4 friends from small-town New England changed the course of the Revolutionary War. It’s a jazzed-up version of real individuals who were referenced in Washington’s confidential war-time correspondences.
Good ensemble series of “the first US spy ring”, especially the drama of NY family members divided between loyalty to the British Crown vs American Revolution. A few British characters are a bit one-sided in their villainy, but the show redeems itself towards the end with a more nuanced resolution.
For those who like “Turn”, the first season of “Sleepy Hollow” is fun, about a lost founding father from the American Revolution, who awakens 200 years later in modern-day America, to continue a spiritual battle with old enemies, human and inter-dimensional. The series was rapidly watered down in subsequent seasons, but the first season is axes-ablazing.

Catherine,
I swore I would never homeschool… and then Covid happened. I am now homeschooling using the Waldorf curriculum.
Can you recommend a book for a 14 y.o. that discusses money, finance, and economics?
I’ve introduced her to the (Dutch and British) East India Company. She’s learning about corruption, greed, and murder through the Spice Trade. Any other suggestions? Any Canadians who could recommend a similar teaching material referring to the Hudson’s Bay Company and the Fur Trade?
Thank you for all you do, Catherine.

I would have a 14 year old read the Road Last Traveled by Scott Peck – understanding how to solve problems is step one to be going with money after being good at math.
Check out Rich Dad Poor Dad – see if you think that would help. Meantime, I will ask Mark Skidmore for books for 14 year olds. Would also recommend

-the Uncle Eric series is nice for money
-for Waldorf homeschooling find the Christopherus website
Two other resources that look good but we have not used are:
-from David Ramsey: https://www.ramseysolutions.com/store/youth/juniors-adventure-pack
-https://econedlink.org/resources/grade/6-8/
From Dr. Skidmore
Hi Catherine,
I am not sure about economics, but I am aware of useful resources for young teens on personal finance/money:
Financial Literacy for Teens, Chad Foster
Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University” is accessible to young people too (https://www.ramseysolutions.com/store/digital-products/financial-peace-university-class?utm_source=bing&utm_id=bi_cmp-291378451_adg-1275433587404542_ad-79714666970237_kwd-79714641910013:loc-190_dev-c_ext-_prd-_sig-dd113c05dbe214184b095e645610ffeb&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=RamseyPlus%20-%20FPU%20Branded%20-%20High%20Volume&utm_content=Financial%20Peace%20University&utm_term=financial%20peace%20university&msclkid=dd113c05dbe214184b095e645610ffeb)
Not sure how you feel about Ramsey. I think both offer good basic information.
Hope this helps some,
Mark
Thank you.
First book that came into my mind was “Debt: The First 5,000 Years”. But that is too negative. Great book.
It is hard to recommend an economy book when it looks like all world is being turned into Soviet Union.
Maybe “100 Bullshit Jobs…And How to Get Them” is more appropriate for current times.
I used the Dave Ramsey adult Financial Peace curriculum as part of my daughter’s curriculum for her economics course in HS. She is now 24 and very good with money. She has no debt and only just now got a credit card, which she pays off monthly,
When my son was in high school he was supposed to pick a book about the period from something like 1900 – 1920. I had him read *The Creature from Jekyll Island* about the formation of the Fed and the fractional reserve currency system. I would come home from work as he was reading it to “Mom, you won’t believe…..” I kept saying “yes, I know.” He loved it and understands what a sham it all is.
If it is, we would be wise to refuse to get pulled in and take sides.
