  1. “American Airlines is stopping service to Ithaca, New York, and other places due to regional pilot shortages.” Do you have more information about the pilots? Flights from Ithaca are 80% full.

    1. Are the flights to Ithaca still on Air Wisky? So, American Airlines really a morphed version of US Airways which they acquired some years ago. Flights to places like Ithaca, Harrisburg, Minneapolis and so on were usually done on CRJs and ERJs, basically regional jets, Air Wisky being one of the companies they subcontracted out and the other one the name escapes me.

In a high-profile exception to its Ukraine war-inspired sanctions regime, Canada will release a Russian turbine to Germany that’s necessary for maintaining Russia’s Nord Stream 1 natural gas pipeline. As Reuters reports:

    1. Gas turbine for Nord Stream 1 released to Siemens now. Siemens working on getting the turbine(s?) back to Russia – timeframe according to them 2-4 weeks. Russia/Gazprom stating/reserving the right to quality-check the turbine(s?) themselves once they are put back into place – time frame according to them another 2-4 months. Nord Stream 1 July 11-21: planned maintenance, gas flow completely stopped. Gazprom/Russia offered (weeks ago, around SPIEF) to open Nord Stream 2 to alleviate gas flow reductions due to turbine issued and the planned maintenance, German gvt said no.

        1. good idea, seems like quite a percentage of the 80plus million people are having the same idea – easier said than done. backlog on wood stoves/ovens (both for purchase and installation) plus installation regulations plus buying wood is another issue (just heard from someone they won’t get their delivery before January) and you can’t just go and take it from some random forest, there’s restrictions as well- lots of wood comes from Russia and Eastern Europe. Honestly, you can’t make this up, they are talking about opening “warming halls” in cities for people who won’t be able to afford their energy bills come winter…that’s a remnant from after WWII that some old folks still remember around here

          1. This is all very disturbing. There are so many people who will be immune compromised because of the injections. To suffer with no heat may be more than their bodies can manage in the cold winter. TB may make a real resurgence.

            Criminal.

    1. My reservation about this is, do they have some other calamity to take it’s place at that time?

      1. maybe the next variant wave in the fall will be enough to start all over again

        1. Jacinda Ardern is re-instating restrictions today in New Zealand (July 14).

          1. Hi John,
From my POV, Biden, et al, want this war. They are telling us to prepare for a long war, with no mention of diplomacy. They have already provided over 44B to Ukraine, plus other support, and have already spent more than 5 years in Afghanistan. It seems the US needs a war to launder dirty corrupt money. Long term wars seem to be acceptable now. Why are people not demanding diplomacy? This is our war, we are funding Ukraine. I don’t understand why we have to suffer to support Ukraine, what about our country first. The whole thing is highly suspect. Putin is the bad guy, reason for high gas and inflation according to Biden, why should what they do affect us like this??? Whoever is running Biden and team, are part of a global mafia and drug cartel. We need to get back to taking care of our country first and get rid of all of these corrupt, socialist, globalist pyschopaths. They are playing us and we need to wake up and vote for good people. Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, DeSantis, to name a few. People who make sense and can speak their minds without teleprompters and scripts. How about some intelligent Americans, thank you. The propaganda of this administration is criminal, it is all about who has the most marketing dollars to make the other candidate look bad. People voted to get rid of Trump, due to mainstream propaganda. Truly a travesty. I pray we survive the next 28 months. I am sure they planned to have incompetents in control, very easy to scapegoat them in 2024 and come out with fresh new puppets who can read.

          2. I would not assume that money is staying or being spent in the Ukraine. Ukraine has always been a laundry. The question now is it being cleaned out so something new can be built there. In that case some of the money is staying.

    1. Yes indeed, thank you for saying that, was it inspired by this book whose link you pasted?

    2. One of the most technically excellent pieces of software ever written, currently deployed on billions of computers, is SQLite. This is their code of ethics: https://sqlite.org/codeofethics.html

“The founder of SQLite, and all of the current developers at the time when this document was composed, have pledged to govern their interactions with each other, with their clients, and with the larger SQLite user community in accordance with the “instruments of good works” from chapter 4 of The Rule of St. Benedict (hereafter: “The Rule”). This code of ethics has proven its mettle in thousands of diverse communities for over 1,500 years, and has served as a baseline for many civil law codes since the time of Charlemagne.”

SQLite is a foundational technical building block of decentralized systems, since it works without a central server, https://thenewstack.io/the-origin-story-of-sqlite-the-worlds-most-widely-used-database-software/

  3. Seen this? that’s by October (180 days).
