  1. John was mentioning why the UK had an energy crisis given that it has reserves in the North Sea. Those reserves are almost used up. in the late 70@s to mid 80’s the UK have a large unemployment problem as Mrs thatcher closed down the Mines and steelworks. She used the revenue from the oil to pay for the unemployment. There are large reserves to the West of Scotland but in deep water. Now the oil price is high and the need for oil is high the oil industry will think about extracting it,

  2. In Ask Catherine, you mentioned that good films are getting harder to find. Have you come across the 1996 French film “Belle Verte”? It is a humorous look at culture using the device of a representative from a healthy planet (beautiful scenes) who is sent to earth to report back on our conditions. It was banned for 10 years, likely for suggesting that people having to pay for food is crazy, what passes for food is toxic, and that advanced technology involves the development of higher capacities and is therefore completely organic etc.
