    If cash is legal tender how can a small business refuse to accept cash? Some of the top search results on this, from sites purporting to offer legal expertise, say that a business can choose to accept payment in USD excluding cash+coin. I live in OR and there are definitely businesses here that state plainly “no cash.” Thanks!

    1. The provision is set by statute (31 U.S.C. § 5103) and states that legal tender applies to “all debts” and “public charges, taxes and dues.”

      So the only private parties bound by the statute are private creditors. Private businesses are free to reject legal tender for anything but debts, in other words.

      The statute arose in the U.S. at the outset of the civil war, when the government was low on funds and the banks did their patriotic duty by offering to extend credit to the country to fund the war at rates ranging between 24% and 36%.

      Abraham Lincoln realized how ridiculous it was for a sovereign nation to borrow from banks licensed–by sovereign power–to create credit, so he cut out the middleman and issued interest-free money directly from the Treasury in the form of greenbacks, which were wildly popular.

      So ultimately it was Lincoln giving an F.U. to the banks by showing them where they and their debts stood in the pecking order.

    Also I live in a town outside Buffalo. The entire US was targeted with massive weather warfare for Christmas. The loss and deaths from this engineered storm “Elliott” in Western NY is horrific and the deaths
    will continue to rise as more bodies will be found. It is, without a doubt, an evil sacrifice, a spiritual warfare bomb, right at Christmas in a very traditional region known for its many churches and commitment to family. I lived through the Blizzard of 1977 and this is much worse. Imprisoned for 5 days without access to food and power for thousands lifted late Tuesday, they now are forecasting temps up to 50 degrees along with flooding. Buffalo is the city of no illusions and good neighbors. Pray big. These monsters hate Jesus which means love him or what he represents more. Believe the law of the universe is love.     1. Hi Sandra, I grew up in Hamburg NY. Fun story from 77. I was driving on the skyway with buddy Dave on the way to Buffalo State juta after storm. The radio said the colleges were closed. We did not know why. I was Chemistry graduate teaching assistant and Dave was work study electronic tech for engineering. We both had keys to the buildings. We continued to college because we both had work to do. The South Towns roads were clean the day after storm. The city needed to high lift snow to dump trucks and dump in lake. So we were in our 15 year of school and never missed school due to snow. The best benefit of GTA was faculty parking between Chemistry and Engineering buildings. Why no more searching for a white hump in student parking at 10 PM to return to Hamburg each night. My Sisters live in Colden and East Otto. I went to DC area in 1978 for job and to join my soon to be Wife. Life worked out my Wife graduated form Georgetown Medical is OBGYN. I became chief chemist for Potomac Electric. Now we enjoy retirement in Easton Mary’s Land. Stay Safe and keep warm. PS I was doing the rough plumbing on a new house near the lake when the 77 storm hit. The door blew off my truck and many more interesting stories.

      1. I’d really love to hear about how herbs and other remedies actually work other than just calling them antibiotics or anti viral. What are they really doing that is pro life. I suspect it is multi faceted and includes bio-photons and frequency.

        2. One of the things to think about is that all life on the planet uses genetic code to create proteins. There are building blocks, precursors to creating other recipes. Plants, animals, mushrooms, all have immune systems. We all have to fight off various bacteria and viruses. And we believe there is a common ancestry between all life. We also know that large portions of our genetic code lie seemingly dormant. Well, one reason for that could be that they no longer have the precursors to activate that process. So one thing that the natural world can do that may be hard to replicate in a lab, is to create the whole set of precursors necessary to activate a particular process. The plant, animal or mushroom you are eating evolved its own generative processes for the purpose of activating a similar pathway, so in essence, life itself has followed the scientific method and with much longer duration, with much more variety of experiments than human beings in a lab have the manpower to do.           Reading Paul Stamets has inspired my thinking on this.   6. Reminder the Christmas Season is not being celebrated correctly every year – Christian (Catholic Church)
    Advent 2022 began on Sunday, November 27 and ended on Saturday, December 24
    ADVENT is the abstinence and penance in preparation for the birth of Jesus on December 25th.
    Advent is being celebrated as Christmas – then everything STOPS after Christmas day 12/25 – when this is the beginning (1st day) of the Christmas Season. Drives me crazy every year.
    Can this be covered in the Solari religious seminars?
    Christmas season begins the evening of Saturday, December 24 and ends in the evening of Thursday, January 5, 2023. The Epiphany. This is the 12 days of Christmas – as in the carol. The carols on the radio and celebration should be at their highest during this period. Note: Some traditions have Christmas season go as long as Feb for Candlemas.

    1. Jesus was born September 11. The most important Catholic Marion feast days are August 15, December 8 and January 1. Why because Our Lady made the birth of the Savior possible by saying yes. Our Lady was also schooled in the discipline of the Essenes. The Dalai Lama said everyone should do their practice and we will all arrive at the same spiritual place together. Peace of mind and peace on earth are the goals.
      Interesting your Christmas timeline is the same as my Lutheran Mother Tree up 12/24 tree down 1/5 her birthday. I was schooled Catholic and my Mother explained the differences in religons.

    1. No worries the Boys will patch the substation and return to service. The power of 3 transformers per feeder. Most of USA has one substation tranformer per feeder. DC has the most redundant electric system in the world on many different electrical levels.

        1. Yes I understand washington state. However DC has the most unqiue electric system in the world because of 3 transformers per feeder. Wahington State has the USA average 1 substation transformer per feeder. I was Chief electric system chemist and high voltage analysis supervisor and large transformer subject matter expert 35 years Potomac electric power, added Delmarva power and Atlantic city electric after sale for last 15 years before retirement. I know how the electric systems of the world operate based on 35 years as Doble engineering committee member. The point is most substations have zero security. Interesting in DC you will never see a substation, guess why ? All the substations are in buildings that look just like neighborhood buildings. Also did you notice the recent sustation attacks are near military bases in Washington state and NC. Dont worry the Boys have been fixing gun wounds to electrical equipment since 1900.
