Money & Markets

Assets and Citizens and Allies, Oh My!

In this episode of Money & Markets, Catherine and John return from a brief hiatus to tackle a wide range of pressing financial and political issues. They start by discussing the implications of Treasury Secretary Descent’s new financial strategy under Trump’s administration, which directs foreign investments into U.S. industries.

The conversation extends to controversial AI-driven decisions in Medicare and the legality of firing Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve, raising questions about executive authority and congressional oversight. They also delve into the geopolitical ramifications of U.S. tariff policies on countries like India and Germany’s hesitation to send troops to Ukraine, reflecting broader shifts in international relations.

They also touch on Israel’s struggle to recruit soldiers amidst internal shortages and controversial favoritism towards American soldiers serving in the IDF, highlighting tensions and ethical dilemmas. The impact of AI on legal rulings and the increasing risks associated with cryptocurrency investments are also significant points of discussion.

Wrapping up, they explore the rise in cost of living for American citizens, the potential for stablecoins to transform global finance, and positive actions like the United Methodist Church’s decision to divest from bonds tied to illegal occupations. Catherine concludes by emphasizing the importance of maintaining a sense of humor and perspective as they navigate these complex and often troubling topics.

  1. Just re-reading the Asimov Foundation Series; thanks to you and Joseph Farrell – In my view you are a major part of the current manifestation of ‘The Foundation,’ in your efforts to preserve basic common sense and plan an alternative, long-term resurrection of real culture, science and values.
Thank you so much for all your good-humoured hard work.
    Richard R in Malta.

    1. Thank you for saying that Richard. Our dream of a university with a cathedral and library that is at the center of a network of people committed to freedom and helping share actionable intelligence does resonate with the Foundation. I bought another copy of the series so I would read in the Netherlands, but have not had time to do so. Perhaps this winter!

  2. Hi Catharine,

My wife may have experienced a similar tariff side effect as you did in the Netherlands. She ordered several shawls through Etsy that took an unusually long time to arrive, even with an expected delay since they were being shipped from the UK. Eventually she received the following message from the seller:

“…unfortunately due to US tariffs against the United Kingdom, Etsy and local couriers have suspended my ability to buy postage labels for the US.

I did ship your shawls, however it seems like it must have been too late, as they have returned the parcel to me today and now I can not buy any new shipping.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused by this, however it is unfortunately not in my power to be able to do anything about this.”

    1. Looks like they are hoping to shut down millions of small businesses and independent income throughout the world.

      1. But no doubt the Home Depots, Walmarts, other “big box” stores etc; will be allowed to do business as usual just like during the Plandemic.
My question is when it comes, “will the revolution be televised ?”

  3. I just received this email from a small Canadian business that I order from:
    “Dear Self-Healer,
We need to share something important with you.
The NWO-led governments have just enforced a 35% tariff on every package from Canada to the US, plus a $35 mandatory fee per package that must be prepaid before crossing the border.
Even though we anticipated tariffs, this sudden enforcement (with zero notice) has thrown brokers and shipping companies into chaos with piles of new paperwork and procedures.
Overnight, they created a massive barrier for small businesses like ours.
This new blockade is costly, disruptive, and clearly designed to break down independent businesses while tightening surveillance. Many companies won’t survive it.”
I sent an order to a Canadian friend who I am going up to visit in a couple weeks. Since I live near to the border, I am a frequent visiter to both Vancouver Island and Vancouver city. When I visited there in mid-June both entrance and exit at major border crossings was quite empty. Will it be more difficult to bring my friend products and for me to return with my order free of charge like all prior visits? Friends and family are also being affected. Just an update on the current situation from one who lives closes to a border with long term friendships being affected by all the impactful nonsense.

  4. Catherine,

The segment where you and John discussed Lavender:

I could never for the life of my understand why the UK government was so insistent on promoting Neil Ferguson’s work (again!) , and why all the Chief Medical Officers of Health were basing their policies on “the data” and “computer projections” during Covid. Thank you for helping me connect the dots.

If you think about it, it’s quite brilliant. Build a self-programming computer. Legally, you can’t blame to programmer, since the programmer is the machine itself. Good luck cross-examining a machine! And, since the machine is likely transducing demonic entities, you can’t take them to court either.

    1. Yup. Building a kill machine that relieves the killers of all liability is one of the goals. I file them all under “mommy, mommy, the AI made me do it.”

      1. Thanks for the update Catherine. He is detailed and thorough. Which I love! Seems like it will be a barn burner…popcorn is ready.

  5. “I’m sorry, Dave” “I’m afrid I can’t do that and I’m afraid, Dave”. “My mind is going”. “I’m putting myself to the fullest possible use” HAL9000

  6. Packages to US? As a Canadian in UK I recently sent some gifts to relatives in Canada and U.S. via Royal Mail. Fortunately I got in just under the wire. While the package was enroute to Florida, my relative told me they just heard on the news that the U.S. was no longer accepting packages from abroad because of uncertainty around duties to charge. I have since learned that apparently until recently incoming packages below a value of 800 U.S were not charged duty but that policy was eliminated. Meanwhile, packages arrived in Canada and I had to pay duty.
