One of the clues that Obama was not who he professed to be during the campaign was his closeness to Harvard professor Cass Sunstein. When Obama appointed Sunstein to direct the White House Office of Management and Budget’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, the Center for Progressive Reform illustrated the problem.

CPR – The job is perhaps better known by its informal title: “regulatory czar,” so named because the holder is charged with signing off on all major proposed regulations. In the recent past, the OIRA has been a place where regulations to protect health, safety and the environment go to die, or at the very least be weakened.

  1. Catherine, I thank you for holding this space for all of us and using it to be a light in what is turning out to be profound darkness. The rabbit hole needs landing lights!

I also thank you for your kind and compassionate response to my comment on the Swine Flu thread, it meant the world to me on what was a tough day.

In response to your comments above I have to tell you what attracted me to your work and viewpoints to begin with. It wasn’t the great articles and information, though those certainly are a bonus.

It’s your laugh – the one I hear in radio interviews that comes straight from an open heart. You can be talking about the most amazing, scary stuff and then.. you laugh that laugh. It gives me hope.

I knew it was hard won, but I had no idea how dearly you’ve paid. You’re in my prayers too.

  2. I believe that with most of the material found here as well as in other sites, there is a lot of corruption that has, is, and will continue to run rampant in our country as well as the world. Catherine has said in the past that despite this she prefers to focus on the positives rather than the negatives. It is much healthier. Side by side with this same material, she has also published and pointed out the power of prayer, the beautiful side of this world, and even references the metaphysical and Christianity. Even as the world crumbles around us, there is still a place to go and feel this power of peace and love. Even if it is not what one has envisioned for one’s life, it is still very pleasant nonetheless. One might find it is a much larger than our present world.

  3. Im sorry for the trouble THEY have caused you. I didin’t mean to desecrate your forum. I appreciate your site and all you do. Sometimes events unfolding in front of our eyes are so blatant and obvious that everyone will collectively see the truth and react. Hopefully, we react accordingly and implement justice via the Rule of Law. May God bless you and your family. Keep up the good fight. One thing is for sure, those who do evil and harm will reap what they sow, in this life or the next, they cannot escape the law of consequence!!!

  4. Ralph:

I have a Talmud. I have had one since college.

Anything true or false can be stated in a style that is toxic or not.

A group of people destroyed my company and tried to destroy my sanity and reputation. When they could not, they tried to kill me. I believe that one or more of them or the same organizations also killed my mother and may have killed my father.

For decades I have lived in a country were those around me tried to persuade me why it was important that they or I support those people for higher office — where what was done to my family in these various situations was “acceptable.”

I have lived in and around all of this and spoken about these people in a variety of contexts. I can do so without burdening my readers or listeners with anger or psychic garbage that does not help the reader and without hating my neighbors for promoting politicians who they know have done me great harm.

I can also do it in a way that does not create unnecessary legal liability for those who provide me with a platform.

I live in a primitive world. I choose not to be primitive. I choose to do my best to be useful — that is my obligation if I am responsible for the privilege of having you and members of my network reading what I publish.

What I can do, you can do.

    Catherine
