Medical Freedom Gains Ground in New York

As Catherine often says, “jurisdiction matters.” During Covid, residents of New York City and State experienced the downside of being in a dreadful jurisdiction—attorney Bobbie Anne Cox calls the state government “one of the most corrupt in our nation.” As Mayors di Blasio and Adams and Governors Cuomo and Hochul gleefully imposed and enforced one mandate or restriction after another, including Cuomo’s infamously murderous nursing home protocols, tens of thousands of teachers, city workers, and health care providers lost their jobs, either quitting or being fired for refusing to take the shots. In addition, according to the vastly underreported Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), at least 51,000 New Yorkers who took the shots were injured or killed.

After being fired, New York City educator Michael Kane founded Teachers for Choice, which is fighting in the courts and working with lawmakers to reinstate the fired workers and push back against medical mandates. In 2025, an effective partnership with the Autism Action Network allowed Teachers for Choice to vanquish proposed legislation that would have led to implementation of minor consent for vaccination and tracking of adult vaccine status. Teachers for Choice excitedly describes these achievements as marking “a new day for medical freedom.”

Without wanting to rain on their parade, we would like to remind our readers that financial freedom is the apex freedom—and the guarantor of food and health freedom. As Josh Stylman recently wrote in his excellent piece, “From Cow to Cloud,” freedom fighters urgently need to recognize the digital infrastructure that is being built “to monitor and potentially control their resistance.” If the central bankers and the leadership succeed in their plans to enable programmable money, comprehensive financial surveillance, and digital gulags, they will have no difficulty in reversing every hard-won medical freedom overnight. We congratulate New York’s freedom fighters on their pushback while urging freedom fighters everywhere to keep their eye on the bigger picture.
