“People like you are still living in what we call the reality-based community. You believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality. That’s not the way the world really works anymore. We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you are studying that reality–judiciously, as you will–we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors, and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.” ~Senior Advisor to President George W. Bush, quoted in an article by Ron Susskind in 2004

This week on The Solari Report, The Saker joins me on our quarterly The Emerging Multipolar World to discuss the events in Syria.

We cover the latest allegations regarding chemical attacks, retaliatory missile strikes and then dig into the Trump Administration reversals regarding US policy in the Middle East.

  1. Question: What is the US strategy to maintain a unipolar empire?
  2. Question: What does control of Syria have to do with maintaining the US dollar as reserve currency?
  3. Question: What are the roles of the UK, Israel, Iran, Russia and China?
  4. Question: What is happening in the Ukraine and how does that relate to events in the Middle East.

Throughout this discussion, Saker expresses his concern that the possibility of the Neocon’s triggering a nuclear war is growing.

If you have not heard or read it yet, our discussion in February, Necons & the War Lobby, is excellent background. Access it here and our review of the Saker’s new book here.

In Let’s Go to the Movies, I recommend you watch the recent BBC interview with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Larov

In Money & Markets this week I will discuss the latest in financial and geopolitical news from Sydney, Australia.

Email or post your questions for Ask Catherine.

Talk to you Thursday!

  1. I don’t think I’ve ever heard the Saker sound so nervous and scared. The powers that be are definitely playing with fire.

  2. Thanks, Colleen. Really appreciate the feedback. I agree. We need a way to quickly find what’s new. I also want to make news Trends & Stories much more accessible with ONE click.

I am used to hearing how ugly and overwhelming the old site was. It is nice to hear that there was something good about it! I liked it.

I think once the new site is fully loaded, it will be much easier to find things. All feedback is deeply appreciated.

  3. Hi Catherine,

I can relate with the comments above, that the new site being a bit confusing. In my personal opinion, I think it’s mostly just a change overall which takes a bit of time to learn where news reports, articles, etc are located.

On the previous site, it was very visually intuitive. Despite following the same schedule and process as the old site, it’s a bit confusing to find what is new on the site. Maybe having a brief video explanation about where to find all the weekly news articles and commentary could help out. Just a suggestion. I know you have a vision.

I’ll give an example: On the old site, I would look to the left column and scan the categories for all the categories with articles/information posted. Then choose which ‘news’ to look at.

On the new site, I think the categories are in the top toolbar with drop down menus. Instead of just seeing the most recent posts for each category, there’s an added step and when I click on the category, a new page opens without displaying what articles are posted for that day/week.

I hope this makes sense. I think I’ll figure it out as we go along. I respect what you and your team do, and have no doubt everything will work out in the end..as it’s meant to be This is just phase 1 after all.

    Much Love,
    Colleen

  4. Thia commentary was posted on Saturday. The Solari Report audios will be posted next Thursday. The note at the top of the commentary says:

~Our Interview will post on Thursday, May 3rd at 6pm ET.~
-Catherine’s Money & Market Commentary will post on the evening of May 3rd after the interview~

If you go back to the home page, there is a picture of a microphone at the top that says CLICK HERE for a listing of Upcoming and Recent Solari Reports. It is a short cut to all the audios and transcripts available in one place.

    Does that helps?

Since this is the way we have always done it, I am trying to understand why it is now confusion. Your help is appreciated.

  5. I’m at a loss too Catherine. Where is this week’s audio? I don’t see any microphone icon?

  6. I’m totally lost regarding the new site. Is the weekly Solari Report really a 3:26 clip? Aaaargh!

    1. Cheryl:

The new Solari Report with the Saker will publish next Thursday. I put a note at the top and will make sure to remember to do so in the future.

Each Solari Report has a commentary that publishes on Saturday with a description and audio excerpt. The interview then publishes on the following Thursday. The transcript follows when ready.

If you click on the microphone near the top underneath the navigation bar you can also pull up all the recent Solari Reports and the forward schedule. All the audio interviews available can be accessed there as well.

      Hope that helps!

      Catherine

      1. PS – this is exactly how we did it on the old site. Nothing has changed in this respect, so not sure why it seems different. Would be curious to know.
