Wondering about the meaning of this. Today MoveOn.org just sent out an official VOTE opinion poll to its members. The polling question, “Should MoveOn” support or oppose congressional authorization to use military force in Syria?

This appears significant – that this organization, which largely helped to put the current president in office, is having this poll before casting their weight.

  2. Pondering the real estate discussion. My spouse and I, plan to downsize to No Mortgage but not just yet. I took a look at real estate tax costs to guess about inflation in the next 10 years. I learned these facts about our recent past as property owners. I compared 2005 to 2013.
Property value increased 32%, property tax increased 20% (school tax has maintained 50-59% of our property tax in Texas), and my salary increased almost 40%. Somewhere around 2006-2008 my salary was around a living wage but inflation is erroding that.

What does the real estate expert think the national norm will be in a few years regarding any forseen changes for property owners to pay more of the taxing district debt load payments, Texas uses a sales tax, no income tax, and districts pop up over time to tax more with less direct stakeholder input.

  3. Regarding the idea that the NSA stories might be part of a larger, deeper story…. The Snowden leaks do seem really well planned and his conversations are well thought out. It’s as if he has 3 people behind him helping him with international law, helping him write, helping him shape each day’s story that comes out in the Guardian. Maybe he’s the front man for somebody or some group that wants this stuff leaked. Or maybe he’s just brilliant on his own. So far, he has seemed one day ahead of the US media’s commentary, he seems to have little fear and he’s very nimble.

Something I haven’t seen any commentary about is the fact that the Carlyle Group owns Booz-Allen. Doesn’t all this spying and data gathering give the Carlyle Group the ultimate insider information for whatever big deals they’re trying to do?? What do you think about this?

  4. A shout out!

Attempting to save an important nickle, I called my telephone/internet provider, no no TV Cable here, just rabbit ears for TV, to save a few bucks. They offered a year discount on a new “verse” service that would save about $200 or more for a year. It turns out the new phone service uses Voice Over Internet Protocal. Now our call packets wiz over to the NSA I presume with no need for a conversion to digital. I presume the old audio phone had to be converted or was just not recorded. I guess after the discount period ends I’ll be paying the costs for storage by the NSA in full. Ugh!

    Loving our subscription,

  5. Regarding your TRUTHOUT LINK entitled “Beginning Of The End”…

Did you or your editors really think about the claim that 100 billionaire’s income could fix world poverty four times over? The link says their net income is 240B$ and there are 1B children in poverty. Assuming one poor adult for every five poor children that’s claiming that 50$/year is enough to raise someone from poverty. Seems like a stretch. Maybe TRUTHOUT is not a reliable source.
