42% of Homeowners in Illinois Say Mortgage Worth More than Home

Homeowners in Illinois are almost evenly divided on whether the value of their home is worth more than their mortgage, and they are not very optimistic about their home values in the near future.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds that 47% of homeowners say the value of their home is worth more than the amount they owe on their mortgage. Nearly as many (42%), however, report the opposite and say they owe more on their mortgage than their home is worth.
