  1. About sending keys to the bank, the mortgage paperwork says you make the payments or they take the house. Letting them take the house is satisfying the mortgage, not stiffing the bank (really fannie mae). Here’s another strategy. I’ve been considering buying a cheap house in tx to live in if ever we’re in a desparate situation, where we can cancel the insurance and stop paying ppty tax. Peops over sixty five dont have to pay, but taxes and interest accurue. We tell our child that we bot the dump for this purpose and it goes to the state when we drop dead. I don’t think that’s stiffing anybody, either.

    1. Yes, it is one way of satisfying the mortgage. If you told them that was your plan, I doubt they would issue you the mortgage. 🙂 Yes, agree on the second.
