Gov. Perry Backs Resolution Affirming Texas Sovereignty
“I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Gov. Perry said. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”

I live in Texas (Fort Worth area) and have grave questions about Perry’s authenticity. He originally campaigned for mandatory HPV vaccination for young girls until he received backlash from his own republican party (http://www.statesman.com/news/content/region/legislature/stories/02/06/6hpv.html). Next, he initially opposed bailout money (for political gain) and then changed his mind and accepted some (http://www.humanevents.com/images/Obama.pdf). I’m always very skeptical of two-faced people even when they appear to be doing good. I prefer consistency in behavior and actions. Then I might believe what someone stands for. To date, you are clearly one of those people, Catherine. I’m grateful to you for your incredible integrity.

Your comment fits with my intuition. If Perry is doing this it is because the orders are coming down from on high for him to do this? What is the game? I don’t think we see it — but one is going on.
For a governor of one of the most powerful states to say he is behind this is important. If it passes into law in a state, that will be a bell weather event.
