John Podhoretz, Paul Wolfowitz, and other neoconservatives believe themselves to be vindicated by current world events, Russia’s actions, and war in Ukraine, and are announcing their comeback! Yet, they are the very ones whose madness is destroying America and the free world.

Matt Taibbi is an extraordinary journalist and prolific writer who always has his finger on the pulse, with an uncanny sense for the important story behind the scenes. Having spent many years in the Russia of the 1980s and 1990s, as well as in Uzbekistan and Mongolia, he is in a linguistic and intellectual league and a position of insider intelligence that few journalists can match. His years abroad during the period of the “Rape of Russia” also gave him a first-hand look at how the combination of financial fraud and neocon policies can destroy a civilization.

Taibbi is also a Solari hero because he was the only prominent journalist to pick up the FASAB 56 story in early 2019, when he wrote a detailed piece in Rolling Stone. In that piece, “Has the Government Legalized Secret Defense Spending,” he actually mentions the work of Professor Mark Skidmore and lays out the history of federal accounting standards, the missing money, the failed audit of the Department of Defense, and the silent introduction of the new FASAB 56 guidelines that permit government agencies to “modify” public financial statements.
