Hero of the Week: July 4, 2022: Senator John Kennedy
“Why does FEMA. . . repeatedly keep hiring these lawyers and engineers who act like thieves?” ~ Sen. John Kennedy
The hurricane season is approaching, and Louisianans are bewildered as they see their flood insurance premiums reclassified according to a new National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) algorithm.
Homeowners who are located in higher elevations with no historical flood risk suddenly find they are required to carry flood insurance policies, while many Louisianan families who live near bodies of water are no longer able to afford their flood insurance premiums.
What is most suspicious is that FEMA (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) refuses to disclose the actual algorithm—called Risk Rating 2.0 and written by a third-party contractor—either to Congress or to policyholders. Senator Kennedy, our Hero of the Week, has stepped up repeatedly since April 2021 to help bring transparency into how flood insurance costs are calculated by this new FEMA program. In doing so, he is not only advocating for modest-income American homeowners but, with poignancy and precision, also pointing a finger at an undercurrent of fraud and the intentional destruction of living standards in the U.S.
Last year, the Biden Administration nominated Dr. Saule Omarova to be Comptroller of the Currency despite her history of adult shoplifting and her recent proposal that a practical way to prevent inflation was to give the Federal Reserve the power to freeze or deduct money from bank depositors’ accounts. Her nomination was withdrawn. Senator John Kennedy helped deal the death blow.

“My Mama didn’t raise any fools. And if she did…..it was one of my brothers” – Senator John N. Kennedy, Louisiana
He sure does manage to keep his state of amusement high in the midst of highlighting the deluge of garbage behavior in DC. God love him.

Damn shame that our federal government is in league with thieves and worse. We’re in deep trouble.
-
Maybe I missed his award, but Clarence Thomas looks like a hero to me.

Love Senator Kennedy! Well deserved hero.
Never a dull moment when he arrives at committee hearings.
