Let’s Go to the Movies: Week of May 1, 2023: The Invisible Extinction

“Plasmidgate” and last week’s Hero, Dr. Sabine Hazan, have put a spotlight on the human microbiome and its importance in keeping the body healthy. We intend to stay focused on this crucial topic in our Solari Health Series for some time.
This documentary, The Invisible Extinction, gives a welcome overview of the function and nature of the microbiome and the microbes of which it is composed. It also shows the destruction of much of the microbiome’s functionality due to the chemicals in our environment and, in particular, due to antibiotics and other drugs.
Our immune system depends on a healthy and functioning microbiome, not only to prevent infections from viruses and the like, but to guard against chronic diseases like diabetes, obesity, asthma, and food allergies. While we may not concur with the film’s suggestion that “fecal transplants” are the main solution, the film provides valuable information and insights.
Let’s all get educated on how to maintain gut health.
The Invisible Extinction can be bought or rented on Vimeo (and other platforms)
