A great movie with beautiful, haunting cinematography and a stunning twist at the end based on the book by Delia Owens. The film about the “marsh girl” Kya has many unique and thoughtful ideas, themes, and characters that give it much depth. Wildlife, nature, and the marsh provide the backdrop to explore many forms of loneliness and belonging, and themes such as abuse, victimhood, survival, and escape.
One central theme manifesting itself throughout the film is the interweaving of the laws of “Mother Nature” and the laws of human civilization and parental institutions.
