Let’s Go to the Movies: Week of October 3, 2022: La Belle Verte

This is one of those movies that you can watch several times. They are just fun, with an absolutely charming plot and lots of food for thought.
La Belle Verte (The Green Beautiful), a 1996 French film by Coline Serreau, is a wondrous utopian comedy packed with a socio-critical narrative that highlights some of the tragic and ludicrous sides of the modern lifestyle. The people from la Belle Verte, a distant planet with a much happier and more advanced society, view planet Earth as backward and unattractive for a visit (incarnation). Only one volunteer can be found to fly to Earth and help activate some progress in consciousness. As the people on Earth have contact with Mila, the visitor from another world triggers in each one a powerful moment of awakening.
The version chosen here is in French with English subtitles.

…a profoundly refreshing take on the notion that “Aliens exist and live among us.”

Another wonderful recommendation. Thank you.
It is interesting to note that the scene at time 53.20 in the German version has been cut (censored) from the original French version.
Has anybody else heard that this film was unofficially banned in Europe when it was first released?
I loved the scene with the side-view mirror. It’s a classic! So was the comment about the baby in the maternity ward having a brain and a heart and skin but because it did not have proper papers it did not exist, Profound.
