In Money and Markets of 4th January, a casual reference was made to the sale of mortgage backed securities by the Federal Reserve Banks. I’ll guess that, with US interest rates significantly higher than when the MBS were likely purchased, the Fed made a loss on the sale.
I’d be interested in your thoughts.
