Money & Markets

The Empire Wobbles

The overarching theme this week is the unstable nature of what is often termed “the empire”—a metaphor for the global financial and geopolitical heavyweight, largely driven by American fiscal influence.

John and Catherine discuss how the empire appears to be in flux, with everything from international tariffs to domestic interest rates contributing to the shaky ground. Despite the seriousness of the topics, Catherine promises a bit of comedic relief, thanks to Howard Lutnick, showcasing that even in the tremors of financial instability, laughter can still find its place.

  1. Hi Catherine and John,

An observation. Seems Palantir may be running a PR campaign wherein “former employees” are putting out a narrative focused on Palantir’s “not having any of their client’s data” they “only provide software to clients to perform data analytic work on the client’s own in-house data”

Have seen this campaign active on a couple of different alt media venues in the past week. Presumably communication from different “former employees”. Here is an example from Twitter, the first instance I noticed:

    https://x.com/wendyranderson/status/1929902733122785469

The crux of the narrative in the above linked thread: “The headline “Trump Taps Palantir to Compile Data on Americans” is fundamentally wrong. Palantir doesn’t do that. They provide software that helps organizations analyze data those organizations already possess.”

    1. It would be great to find and interview one of Palantir’s clients to see what they are doing and what the Palantir software actually shows and does.

      1. Actually, if you just go to Palantir’s YouTube channel, it is amazing what you find in just their marketing.

If you want to know how the software actually works in warfare – here is the Ukraine war demo.

But why limit yourself to just warfare when you can itegrate into American healthcare with the company that controls 30% of the hospital beds in the country. I want to note how totally impersonal this whole healthcare arrangement is. You never get a doctor that speaks to you or knows you. You just get moved around based on AI. Many other healthcare videos.

But why stop at healthcare when you can also take over wealth management at Citigroup Why anyone would trust Citigroup with wealth management, I do not know. Very interesting how he just mentions offhand that Palantir is integrated with passport identification systems around the globe.

Also integrating into all online stores

Alex Karp, the CEO, is a strange person to be in charge of the world’s biggest and most important tech company. An admitted dyslexic with a Stanford Law degree. I did not see anything on him being a dual citizen; however, he is a practicing Jew and flew his entire company board to Israel in 2024 to support the war in Gaza – why would this actually be needed?

        https://www.timesofisrael.com/us-palantir-ceo-flies-company-board-to-israel-in-show-of-solidarity/

Also, in some blatant racism, at the end of this article, they announce setting aside 180 seats at Palantir only for Jewish employees.

Meanwhile, he speaks at his own conference as Palantir being the vehicle to recharge American Industry. Also interesting in this talk how he craps on the big LLM models as being useless in providing real value. There is some truth to that – everything above is providing real value to the organizations above, but at what price?

    2. They are in partnership with Xai which collected all the data and the US government has plenty more. I think you are right, clever PR. In the process of analyzing the clients data you end up with the data. My company Hamilton Securities Group managed analytics for the HUD housing and mortgage data. The US DOJ brought fall allegations and seized our offices and backed up all of our data and tried to stop our access to our data although we had wiped it clean of government data. So they know the score.

      1. An open question is which databases are still physically isolated in decentralized USG departmental data centers and which databases were (pre-2025) moved to USG centralized cloud infrastructure operated by commercial providers.

    3. Exactly. The demon has been exposed so here we go with the fake PR. But at least it’s out now. Thanks.

  2. Dear Catherine and John,

Thank you for your ongoing clarity in this unmanageable world, I depend on both of your perspectives to analyze and understand the players, the events and the bottom line.

As a follow-up to John’s comment about learning from the Amish with regards to home building, I was reminded of another group that has quietly gained projects all over the world. I’m referring to the Straw Bale building group that mentors and trains volunteers every summer as the volunteer teams build a home. The leaders offer on-the-job-training, help with design for full home or additions. This is a link to their site to learn more.

    https://www.strawbale.com/

This architecture firm in Linden, TN, Earth and Straw Design, shows their strawbale home designs in Chattanooga and Lieper’s Fork. In addition, their website shows a home renovation in the historic part of Franklin, TN. https://earthandstraw.com/straw-bale-construction/

As you keep reminding us, there is so much information available to help educate us in the practical areas of life when we seek it.

With sincere gratitude and admiration for your expertise,
    Trisha

  3. Mike Benz, former State Department Cyber is doing a bang up job of exposing these corrupt NGO structures and the inversion of the rule of law. He has many excellent presentations on his utube channel. Perhaps he might make a good guest but you are the ultimate vetting site on genuine truthers. Here is a good, short clip of his. F word alert. I’ve been wondering why the F word is now so common the past few years since it was verboten in the past. I believe it’s because people are exasperated and shocked as this slow burn plan is now apparent. Thanks. 🙏💛

    1. Yes, have been watching some of his interviews. A lot of good information.

    1. Sundance on factions, https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2025/06/05/be-patient-retain-integrity-the-tide-is-shifting-in-our-favor/

New E.O. on cybersecurity and AI revokes federal digital identity mandates by the previous administration, https://www.politico.com/news/2025/06/06/trump-cyber-executive-order-hacker-sanctions-00393241

      > The new order revoked this portion of the Biden document, with the fact sheet describing this effort as a “mandate for U.S. government-issued digital IDs for illegal aliens that would have facilitated entitlement fraud and other abuse.”

  4. BBB

It looks like the policy slogan “Build Back Better” has morphed into “Big Beautiful Bill”.

    Interesting….

  5. OH! My goodness. Your graphic artist has a wry sense of humor. Jello house!!!

Nice comic relief. First the cranky baby, now the jelly house. ; )

    Thanks for the chuckle.
