Movie of the Week: February 12, 2024: A Good Year

“The bad guy falls in love and stops being bad.” ~ Catherine Austin Fitts
As Valentine’s Day rolls around, we are delighted to spread some love by selecting the light and charming 2006 film A Good Year as our Movie of the Week. Produced and directed by the talented Sir Ridley Scott, the movie effortlessly blends elements of humor, drama, and blossoming romance, setting them against the picturesque backdrop of Provence in southern France.
Based on a novel, the story revolves around Max Skinner, a British investment banker portrayed by the brilliant Russell Crowe. After unexpectedly inheriting his uncle’s enchanting chateau and “Le Griffon” vineyard, which holds cherished memories from his childhood, Skinner embarks on a journey of self-discovery and reflection. While there, he begins to question his fast-paced lifestyle and reevaluates what truly matters in life.
With Ridley Scott’s masterful direction, A Good Year is a perfect choice if you are seeking a heartwarming and visually captivating cinematic experience that will leave you feeling uplifted and inspired.

Love this movie… ♥️

Peter Mayle’s « A Year in Provence » captivated me to the point of convincing my husband one soul destroying Christmas in England, that we should buy a little place in France. Some years later I watched « A Good Year » (based on a novel by Peter Mayle) in a Paris hotel with a half bottle champagne from the mini bar after having put my husband to bed early because my visiting mother’s presence made him drink too much. ? I love this movie. And I love everything the author’s written. Watch it and dream of France.
