Music of the Week: July 12, 2024: Pater Manuel and Band – Heast as ned
Anybody who understands these simple words in the Austrian-German dialect—“Heast as ned” or “Don’t you hear it?”—is immediately captivated. This is a great song by Hubert von Goisern—the Austrian folk pop and “Alpine Rock” balladeer. He sings it in the vernacular, which best expresses the elementary nature of life that is passing, time that goes by, and a world that is ever changing. A song of innumerable and indescribable fates untold.
We are presenting the song as Music of the Week in a slightly more international version covered by Pater Manuel and band, a music-making Catholic priest from India who has lived and worked in Austria for ten years.
