Beautiful interpretation of this 13th-century Christian hymn to Mary – Stabat Mater – by Giavanni Battista Pergolesi in the Chapelle de la Trinité, Château de Fontainebleau, France.
Pergolesi is an Italian Baroque composer, violinist, and organist, best-known for his sacred music such as Stabat Mater, and the opera La serva padrona (The Maid Turned Mistress). He died of tuberculosis at the age of 26.
