Reminder: U.S. Daylight Savings Time for 2026 Ends Soon
Celebrate Halloween—Then Check the Clocks
October 31, 2026

“The hours of folly are measured by the clock; but of wisdom, no clock can measure.”
~ William Blake
Reminder: U.S. Daylight Savings Time for 2026 Ends Soon
Celebrate Halloween—Then Check the Clocks
While you might be in the midst of your Halloween celebrations, readers in the U.S. should be mindful that Daylight Savings Time (DST) ends tonight. In the early hours of November 1, U.S. clocks “fall back” one hour, reverting to Standard Time and giving millions of Americans an extra hour of sleep. Europeans turned back their clocks on October 25.
You can read more about the history of Daylight Savings Time—and the numerous calls to abolish the practice (although most are calling for circadian-unfriendly year-round DST rather than the healthier option of year-round Standard Time)—in our 2024 Action of the Week piece regarding Daylight Savings.
