Sallie Mae Spent $530K Lobbying in 2Q

Sallie Mae spent $530,000 lobbying the federal government in the second quarter on issues including the implementation of last year’s overhaul of financial regulations.
The amount spent in the latest quarter is roughly a third as much as the $1.52 million the private student lender spent in the first quarter and about 20 percent less than the $660,000 it spent in 2010’s second quarter, according to disclosure reports Sallie Mae filed with the House clerk’s ofice.
Sallie Mae, formally known as SLM Corp., is based in Reston, Va.
