How much does soil really cost? We could buy one ton of compost from the local waste management
center for around $20. Compared to gold, soil doesn’t appear to cost very much, right? But if we look at how much we’ve degraded our topsoil in the last 80 years, we find it’s depreciation hasn’t entirely been accounted for. In this article, we take a look at the state of our soils and how they mirror the current economic collapse.
