Former Alaska Republican Senator Ted Stevens and former NASA administrator Sean O’Keefe were among seven others on a small plane that crashed monday evening in Alaska.
So far, officials say that five of the nine aboard the plane died and that two are badly injured, but the identities have not yet been released. Officials also say that the plane battled a wild weatherstorm in Alaska.
Mr. Stevens is the longest-serving Republican in the history of the Senate. Additionally, he survived a prior plane crash in 1978 at Anchorage Airport in Alaska that killed his wife and several others.
