Crowdfunding makes it possible for thousands, if not millions of citizens to invest our donations in the investigative journalism that protect us and our society from tyranny. As a former political appointee, I have seen journalists such as Salon founder David Talbot and the team he has gathered make an extraordinary difference in protecting our rights.
