Franklin: Well, you know, Bernanke had that press conference on the 27th, in which he crashed the gold and silver markets merely by suggesting that he wasn’t going to inflate after all. And you know, one of the things that people need to understand about this is he makes those statements for a purpose, and the Fed’s real purpose is not to manage inflation; it’s to manage inflation expectations. In other words, his job is to keep the victims in the trap. And so periodically they do that. They’ll kind of make raids on markets one way or the other to keep everybody confused about what their real plans are.
