I am a retired public health research scientist turned ‘ranch hand’. I spend my summers working with a small local rancher (www.windynranch.com) in Central Washington to produce ‘clean meat’ where livestock are pasture fed and finished and butchering is animal welfare – approved (butchering onsite). In addition to tractoring in pastures, participating in 2 hay baling cycles, running a tedder and hay baler, I run a sales booth at our local farmer’s market. Here I educate the public on what the industrial meat industry has done to our meat supply and the wonderful high quality and principled alternatives that are available just miles away. We sell meat products online and, also run booths in the Greater Seattle area. This dedicated family is being hit hard right now as are many of the small farmers and produce growers. Lets get out and support these heroes!
WindynRanch joined the Barn2door.com online platform last year to better broadcast their products. It is a wonderful resource to find your local farmer/rancher. Check them out!
