From where I sit, this is good news. Our industrial base began leaving our shores after Nixon removed us from the gold standard and “normalized” trade with China. By 1976 high skilled jobs were leaving the country but, not only did the jobs go overseas, so did the machinery needed in the manufacturing process. I call that treason, pure and simple.
For far too long, this country has decided against the use of corporate charter renewal. Early in our history, corporations were prohibited. There was good cause, too much power concentrated in one group of people with financial means. For some unexplained reason, our courts decided that a corporation deserves the same protections as a person. Yet, they do more harm to people, places and things than any single person could do. Maybe it’s time to renew our corporations charters and, if they have been found to act in a manner that is contrary to the general good of the population, the charter would not be renewed. If the offenses were severe enough, all board members would be prohibited from acting in any official capacity for any corporation in the future. But, my yellow brick road just led me to the man behind the curtain and, he’s laughing his ass off……

* This dovetails well with the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America where trade barriers are decreased between the North American Community(prosperity) while quelling any thoughts of resistance stoked by uppity leaders such as Morales or Chavez, pesky indigenous people or disgruntled American workers(security). We have to be careful – these folks aren’t just gonna change and do something better, they are adapting to new constraints and re-inventing themselves.
