We’re Already Living in an Alien Invasion Movie

August 1, 2026

“AI ‘hallucinating’ is just a really nice cute euphemism for … straight up lying to people all the time and just saying things that aren’t true—with total pure confidence.”

~ Melissa Dykes, We’re Already Living in an Alien Invasion Movie

We’re Already Living in an Alien Invasion Movie

Aaron and Melissa Dykes of Truthstream Media have done it again. In We’re Already Living in an Alien Invasion Movie, they take an in-depth look at AI and AI data centers—and present suggestive evidence that it’s not for nothing that “alien invasion” and “artificial intelligence” share an acronym.

Long-time fans of Truthstream Media’s videos and their documentary, The Minds of Men, know that the Dykes excel not just at research but at assembling archival, film, and social media footage in extremely revealing ways. In the first half of this production, they use this technique to construct a chilling portrait of the AI-driven phenomenon of “cognitive surrender”—defined by Wharton academics as “the uncritical acceptance of AI’s answers in place of one’s own reasoning” and also referred to as “cognitive atrophy” or “cognitive offloading.”

Truthstream dives into some of the scarier implications of this phenomenon, topics also addressed by Catherine and John Titus on recent episodes of Money & Markets. For example, just as AI exhibits boastful confidence in its wrong answers, so do people heavily reliant on using AI. Even worse, as children and teens—with their still developing brains—offload tasks to AI that “they never learned how to perform” to begin with, they are setting themselves up for “cognitive foreclosure.” A Psychology Today author warned earlier this year, “You can’t atrophy a muscle that was never built. This is foreclosure—and foreclosure may not be reversible….”

Or in Truthstream’s characterization of this “computer-driven conformity,”

These kids are being programmed the way you would program a robot…. [N]ot only [do] they not learn to think for themselves, they all think like AI, which is really not thinking.”

Alien Invasion Movie also examines the invasion of AI data centers across the U.S., highlighting the massive inconsistencies in the official narrative about why so many facilities are being built (the “China” bogeyman) and also conveying the anger and despair of homeowners whose water, health, peace of mind, and quality of life are being stolen to build a control grid.

This video is not a cheerful watch—as Melissa puts it, the events they describe are an “Invasion of the Body Snatchers level of totally creepy”—but it comes with the same superb analysis and insights that govern all of Truthstream Media’s productions. It is evident that “cognitive surrender” is not a risk in the Dykes household!
