Duty to Disobey

Children’s Health Defense (CHD) and Tommey Burrowes Productions are no strangers to making powerful, emotive, and important documentaries. Duty to Disobey (scheduled for release in selected theaters on June 30, 2026) is their latest contribution.

As the film’s title indicates, and as the National Lawyers Guild Military Law Task Force (MLTF) confirms, “All members of the military have the right, and in some cases have the duty, to refuse illegal orders,” swearing an oath to the Constitution and “not to the Commander-in-Chief or to any other individual in the chain of command.” However, because the Uniform Code of Military Justice does not define what “lawful” means, there is plenty of room for ambiguity—and abuse. As the MLTF not very comfortingly states, “The only way to find out whether an order is legal or illegal is to obey, or refuse to obey, and see what is decided after the fact…. [Y]ou obey or disobey any order at your peril.”

Duty to Disobey chronicles, through individual stories, the draconian treatment of soldiers who “chose to be non-compliant” when the U.S. military handed down its mandate requiring the experimental Covid-19 shots for all branches of the Armed Forces. Consequences for refusal included being held in isolation in the brig for months on end, intense ostracism, and dishonorable discharge (a label that “follows you for life”).

Many of the 98% of military personnel who succumbed to the pressure to get jabbed experienced horrific health effects or death. The Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN) recently acquired data showing a significant spike in cardiovascular and neurological conditions coinciding with the shots’ rollout in 2021. ICAN estimates that at least 29% of the entire military population (as of 2025) may have experienced an adverse event.

Citing the military’s mandate, Duty to Disobey also makes the important point that once a policy “becomes normalized in the military, it very quickly finds its way into the civilian population.” In other words, the issues highlighted in the documentary are relevant well beyond the U.S. military.

Those interested in viewing and supporting the film have an opportunity to see it in selected local theaters on June 30. However, for a screening to proceed in a given area, 50% of seats must be sold (otherwise, tickets will be refunded). Buying a ticket by May 15, 2026 will determine whether or not the film is shown at a given location. As the filmmakers urge, “Let’s make sure that Duty to Disobey gets the attention that both the film and the service members deserve.”

Note: The end of the film includes a “CHD Military Call to Action for the American People”:

Contact the White House and ask President Trump to write an Executive Order which halts all pending punishment and exclusions for vaccine refusal and restores the religious accommodation for all military members and cadets under the Department of War and Department of Homeland Security.”
