Money & Markets

Assets and Citizens and Allies, Oh My!

In this episode of Money & Markets, Catherine and John return from a brief hiatus to tackle a wide range of pressing financial and political issues. They start by discussing the implications of Treasury Secretary Descent’s new financial strategy under Trump’s administration, which directs foreign investments into U.S. industries.

The conversation extends to controversial AI-driven decisions in Medicare and the legality of firing Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve, raising questions about executive authority and congressional oversight. They also delve into the geopolitical ramifications of U.S. tariff policies on countries like India and Germany’s hesitation to send troops to Ukraine, reflecting broader shifts in international relations.

They also touch on Israel’s struggle to recruit soldiers amidst internal shortages and controversial favoritism towards American soldiers serving in the IDF, highlighting tensions and ethical dilemmas. The impact of AI on legal rulings and the increasing risks associated with cryptocurrency investments are also significant points of discussion.

Wrapping up, they explore the rise in cost of living for American citizens, the potential for stablecoins to transform global finance, and positive actions like the United Methodist Church’s decision to divest from bonds tied to illegal occupations. Catherine concludes by emphasizing the importance of maintaining a sense of humor and perspective as they navigate these complex and often troubling topics.

  1. This video showed up on my utube:
“Cashless Society: Why We Must Defend Our Right To Use Cash” by Dr. John Padfield of businessreform.org. He tours the country to educate folks on these issues. I commented on your longtime work as the top pioneer on using cash along with a link. Are you in cohoots? I never heard of him. It’s quite good:

  2. At the farm in Northern Alberta to pick up our 17y.o. who was working here for the summer.

The Alberta gvt is in the process to make sure farmers cannot irrigate their crops. They’re also writing more legislation that they can do spot checks to make sure that the animals aren’t drinking ground water. No need for PCR testing – just let them die of thirst, that’s all.

Of course, they are planning on building one or more nuclear reactor on unstable tectonic plates in the Peace Country to power the Control Grid. Good thing we’re in year 5 of a severe drought up here – land will go for cheap!! Let’s not forget that the skilled tradesmen needed to build it are all retired, or about to, and the next generation of boilermakers, millwrights etc… aren’t up to the task. They’re bringing in unskilled labour to break the Unions. I guess that means an eventual “boom” that will make the news.

So, for those of you who are hoping it’s better in Alberta, it’s not.

  3. Per the blue whales. I just watched The Dimming again after seeing it many years ago. I had forgotten about harp and the electrical manipulation of the weather. I was just remembering the nano particles. I think the die off of the the plankton are from the heat domes caused by the spraying in the sky and the electrical manipulation of the fake clouds. It’s well worth watching again if you haven’t seen it in a while.

    1. Weekly scuba diving the last 18 months in Hawaii observation plenty of plankton.
      Keep Smiling !

  4. Atrologically, Pluto is now out of bounds today and will be until 2034.

The last time Pluto went out of bounds was 1938 – 53.

The previous time was during the French and American Revolutions.

    1. The next time it will be out of bounds will be in about 1000 years.

      Interesting times.

      1. Pluto is also ~in the same place it was in July 1776. Major transformation of our country: seems in the USA there will either be a resurgence of the original principles upon which we were founded, or a move to something very different. It is up to us.

        1. Proof that the Founding Fathers were highly versed in astrology and occultism. BTW: Pluto is exactly conjunct the fixed star Altair – the Eagle.

  5. Yesterday, late in the afternoon before the Long Weekend, Premiere Danielle Smith announced the introduction of the Digital ID for Albertans.

    1. Wasn’t Danielle Smith highly regarded for her opposition to the Trudeau administration?

As usual, all political leadership lets you down in the end.
