November 11, 2023 Veterans Day

Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls. My mother was born on the actual REAL Armistice Day in 1918, and this day holds special significance for me and my family. I am saddened that the US citizenry and their politicians have seen fit to once again convert an opportunity to celebrate liberty, peace, and justice and the people who sacrificed greatly to promote these values and protect into an opportunity to celebrate war and promote commerce. I say we need to re-establish the proper name of Armistice Day.
