The Whale Soundtrack

As the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Cortina d’Ampezzo and Milano, Italy, come to a close. we have selected this breathtaking ice dance performance for our music this week.

Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron won Gold for France with this sensational, sensuous, and aesthetic choreography executed in total perfection. Hard to watch for the equally outstanding American duo Madison Chock and Evan Bates, who are three-time world champions, but a feast for the eyes and, in fact, for all the senses of the relishing observer.

Rob Simonsen wrote the music, which is part of the soundtrack of the 2022 movie The Whale by Darren Aronofsky, a film director of rare talent.

This score, together with the harmonious elegance and complete unity of heartbeat and breath of the two French skaters, makes for an exceptional experience. A glimpse of eternity.
