Under a broader definition of joblessness, some states have rates higher than 20 percent. This rate includes part-time workers who want to work full time, as well some people who want to work but have not looked for a job in the last four weeks. (See map with each state % rate.)

Economists like Walter “John” Williams and trends researcher Gerald Celente have argued the real unemployment rate isn’t 9.5% but actually 16%. The BLS isn’t accounting for the under-employed, unemployed not looking for work, and the unemployed who have exhausted their benefits.
I’m halfway through Panzner’s Financial Armageddon. What a terrifying book! If he is right then Americans are in for some really rough times.
