Money & Markets
AI-pocalypse Now
In this episode of Money & Markets, Catherine and John explore the precarious status of AI and its impact on the financial markets, drawing parallels to the chaotic scene in ‘Apocalypse Now.’ They discuss hints of economic crises, the dismissal of legal and ethical concerns surrounding AI, and the looming disaster as companies rush towards full-scale AI integration. The conversation also highlights the alarming trend of AI-powered drones, initially used in Gaza, now surveilling American cities, raising significant privacy concerns as they get interwoven with law enforcement operations nationwide.
The discussion shifts to scrutinize the growing financial instability marked by rising P/E ratios and the proliferation of private credit, citing fears of another crisis akin to 2008. They cite numerous cases of government and corporate cronyism, excessive spending on AI, and the expansion of private lending as factors exacerbating financial risks. They also touch upon the adverse effects on Main Street, including soaring auto loan defaults, job losses, and the pressures faced by truck drivers amid regulatory changes and decreased freight volumes.
Furthermore, Catherine and John examine global geopolitical manoeuvres, highlighting the significant military buildup near Venezuela and dubious financial activities in Argentina, as well as LGBTQ oppression in Dubai. They address rising skeptism against surveillance technology in American cities alongside the importance of local activism. The episode concludes with a look at the expansive influence of tech giants like Nvidia and a rallying call for community action against the encroaching digital control grid.

Haven’t ever seen this movie, but this short clip about the state of things and how to escape is interesting – from “My Dinner with Andre” from 1981:

Does anyone know if this is true or exaggerated story in the linked article? The article says that Cows are getting ill and some dying due to Bovaer, a new drug to keep cows from releasing methane. Years ago when the cow/methane game started, Vandana Sheva said that cow that graze in open field do not have this problem. The problem is cause by the food that they feed the cows. Another Problem – Reaction – Solution? Except that no one even reacted, except Big Pharma!!

Sticking more news links here as they appear:

https://www.allaboutfeed.net/animal-feed/feed-additives/concerns-rise-over-bovaer-after-cow-health-issues-in-denmark/
While there’s not a huge difference in tone, I *sense* (for what that’s worth) a more obedient discussion of methane reduction in the All About Feed article (Netherlands-based publication).
Maybe a little off topic but I’ve noticed dogs and cats fed processed pet food are gassy. They don’t have that issue when fed real food appropriate to their species. Cats are meat eaters – there’s grain in dry cat food.
There are a lot of problems with pet food, mostly because protein is costly and as you mention, cats are carnivores needing protein. Melamine made the news years back because it was found tainting infant formula and pet food, and resulted in human and animal deaths. The reason the food was thought to have been adulterated with melamine was financial gain. Customs officials had been assessing protein content indirectly by measuring nitrogen (Kjeldahl method) and melamine is cheap with lots of nitrogen….to John Titus’ theme of the week… melamine and cockroaches are both cheap forms of protein!!!
This is interesting. I’m curious how many cattlemen will be talking about this, as I guarantee they have beef-on-dairy steers (beef instead of dairy bulls bred to dairy cows) in mind as a primary use case for this drug. That’s the corporate beef lobby’s perceived way into consolidation, and they’re already doing some bonkers stuff as far as the scale they’re feeding these beeves in . . . think miles of paved corrals to capture runoff, pure fertility being treated like an industrial waste by product. Big Ag’s consolidated chicken and pork – only cattle production has resisted centralization and industrial scaling, but they’re chipping away at that, like other sources of independent income.
Regulatory agencies in the U.S. are protecting Bovaer and controlling the technical information. People would react strongly if provided the science. I think Jon Fleetwood explains it well here (2nd story in this link):

The article looks like the additive (it’s not about pasture) into the rumen process is causing side effects that are killing cattle. It’s probably linked to a net zero emissions reduction plan from the WEF. It’s sad but not surprising. If the government demands an enzyme reduction in humans we need that would kill us off as well. The question is can any farmer not participate in this bizarre experiment.
I read a few other articles about this saying the same or similar.
I want to invest my money by using Catherines index. Can I do that?
