The Wages of Fakery

In this week’s Money & Markets, Catherine and John Titus delve into ‘The Wages of Fakery.’ They discuss the broad economic implications of pervasive fakery, from banking ties to Jeffrey Epstein’s scandal to more honest bubbles in various parts of the U.S.

They examine significant lawsuits against major banks tied to Epstein, the fallout from fake riots in Portland, and the impact of financial fakery on the American working class, particularly within the used car market.

The discussion also covers moves towards implementing digital IDs in the UK, practical pushback strategies, and the role of cash in maintaining financial freedom.

  1. Ever since you pointed out Bobby’s expression standing behind Trump, I’ve been watching the people behind DJT. Check out Cash Patel at 1:12. Trump publicly owning the was, Patel looking around for help. 🙂

  2. Could you provide the name of the legislator who returned his AIPAC money? I’d like to reward good behavior with a small check. Maybe we can take the sting out of his doing the right thing.

    1. Opt out of the biomentrics, and opt out of the big machines. Takes an extra 15 minutes. Max Kane brings special food. The food is the hard part.

      1. What about global entry? I signed up for it many years ago (before I woke up) and they require your picture upon re-entry (no opt out option). Should I ditch it now or has the dye been cast?

        1. Not sure about this one. It makes reentry easier, and if you opt out, in short order the regular entry could require a picture. I will see if I can find out more. I have never done it because I don’t want to be in that system. I did TSA preferred and then they would not let me renew remotely, so I was dropped out.

      2. I also opt out of biometrics and the full body radiation scan at US airports. Just returned from a US visit. While Kristi Noem’s voice played on a loop telling all US citizens they MUST get a real ID to protect our country, I told the officer, while presenting my passport & boarding pass, “I opt out of facial scan.” He said, “sure! And I don’t need to see the boarding pass either.” At Detroit the facial scan was right at the boarding gate. After I opted out and passed onto the bridge I saw they had stashed a sign BEHIND their counter that clearly states “facial recognition is option.” Everybody else thought it’s required.

        1. Exact same experience at several large airport in US. Only one small regional had the optional opt out sign in a readable location next to the TSA line.

    1. The range and flight time is impressive, but UAVs can carry payloads and have similar range and flight times. What catches my eye is the technological advancement of using a small nuclear reactor for propulsion. This is a fabulous S&T innovation. What non-war applications can this energy source be used in? I’d wonder about the waste products generated when expended or left unused. Is there a mid course update to redirect the Burevestnik, if they were not ultimately used.

  3. Potential Pushback story from Rural NY State:
Alexandra is a young woman I’ve been following who has run a substack about her experiences trying to farm in upstate NY. Recently she experienced some ‘shenanegans’ with Solar Companies trying to rent farmland from her neighbors, and the more she looked into it the more she realized what the game was. She didn’t start out political, but its been fun watching this slowly dawn on her. This week she started a 501(c)3 to help rescue farmland from Solar/Wind corporations.
I don’t know her personally, I just started following a year ago because I was embarking on a similar adventure in Northern Ontario, so I don’t vouch beyond that. But I LOVED this one line in her post on substack: ” I’m about to be the nuisance these people never saw coming.”

    Specific substack note here: https://substack.com/@alexandrafasulo/note/c-169696018

Here is a link to her notes, specifically I’d highlight the one from Oct 17th as a good summary of her pushback.

    1. I am seeing a lot of young people do this. Its great. Will post her link to News, Trends and Stories headlines.
