Movie of the Week
The Apprentice
May 31, 2025

“Attack, attack, attack.”
~ Rule #1 from attorney Roy Cohn
Movie of the Week
The Apprentice
By Catherine Austin Fitts
I lived in New York for 11 years. If you lived in New York during that period, you experienced the flamboyant style of Donald Trump and heard the stories of his association with attorney Roy Cohn. Cohn was considered the ultimate New York fixer.
I watched The Apprentice, as it was supposed to describe Cohn and his mentorship of Trump. I can’t recommend The Apprentice as a movie, but it does give you a feeling for an approach and style that uniquely defined that world and time.
The movie lists Cohn’s three rules and lays out their adoption by Donald Trump:
- Number One: Attack, attack, attack.
- Number Two: Admit nothing and deny everything.
- Number Three: No matter what happens, claim victory and never admit defeat.
Whether looking at the Trump Administration’s build-out of the control grid or renegotiation of the global trade model, it helps to understand the President’s approach.

I lived in NY in the late 60’s early 70’s moving from Ca. It prepared me for living and dealing with all types of cultures. At the time I wasn’t sure I wanted that but as the years have passed I realized it helped me grow. Many things in our lives are like that.
I must say that I was moved there due to my Mother marrying an Italian man. Now the stories I could tell relating to that should be in a book.
