On August 7, 2025, President Trump signed Executive Order 14330: “Democratizing Access to Alternative Assets for 401(k) Investors.” This executive order lays the regulatory framework to allow private equity investments to become part of retirement portfolios across the country for 401(k) investors and their equivalents. This is the regulatory realization of Catherine’s concern that private equity will be able to “dip its straw into your 401(k).”
