“[Meta] reported slightly more than three billion monthly average [Facebook] users worldwide as of Q3 in 2023. The company estimates that 4-5% of those accounts are fake, meaning there may be as many as 150 million fake accounts.”
~ Richard Kahn (Anura)
A couple of months ago, we let our readers know that scammers had created fake Solari and Catherine Austin Fitts profiles on Facebook, even though neither Solari nor Catherine has a Facebook account. It appeared that the scammers were trying to hijack the Solari brand for financial fraud purposes.
When Facebook ignored Solari’s requests to get the fake profiles taken down, former Solari team member Siu Ling had better luck. Having worked in the area of brand and copyright protection for many years, Siu Ling—on her own initiative and at her own expense—knew exactly which professional service provider to contact to quickly get results.
As companies offering this type of protection service point out, counterfeit accounts hurt businesses and brands in multiple ways, with one of the top threats being that they can erode trust:
“Once there’s a stain on your brand’s reputation, it is often difficult to rebuild consumers’ trust and perceptions, even after the issue is resolved and proven to have originated from a fraudster.”
Because of her professional background, Siu Ling has a deep understanding of the dangers posed by counterfeiters, and she also knows that it can be difficult for “lay people” to make headway in solving the problem. We are very grateful for her professional acumen and her help in upholding the integrity of the Solari brand.
