  1. One of the worst seed oils in so much of commercial food, such as crackers, cookies and packaged food mixes such as rice dishes and boxed casserole preparations is cottonseed oil. It was explained to me by a medical professional years ago, that cotton is classified as a textile crop not a food crop. This means different and more toxic blends of sprays and pesticides have the potential to be used on textile crops rather than food crops, yet the oil from cotton seeds is used in foodstuffs. For years now, if I see cotton seed oil in the labeled ingredients in any food product, I quickly put it back on the shelf in any grocery or health food store.
